What people ask us most

Gukin (國人 · Global Intelligence) is an intercollegiate student union that raises 'national and international talent'. It began with cohort 1 in 2004; 1,070 members across 23 cohorts have joined since, built on three pillars: education volunteering, friendship and value creation.

Its English name is Global Intelligence, and in Chinese characters it is written 國人.

No. It is a union of students and graduates from many universities, and your school and major play no part in the application.

Any pre-university student whose early admission has been confirmed. School, major and whether you are retaking the entrance exam don't matter, and no school recommendation is required.

Applications open every November on the apply page. After the first-round document review, the second-round interview takes place in Seoul in early January, and final results are announced the same day.

Yes. The January domestic training (2 nights, 3 days) and the overseas training in Kyushu, Japan (3 nights, 4 days) are required for every new member.

Every July and August, about 100 Gukin members teach Korean language and culture to Korean-Japanese and local students at Korean and Hangul schools in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya and Shizuoka. This year marks edition 18; Gukin members apply and are selected.

Members take part voluntarily in four groups — Domestic Mentoring, Global Mentoring, Internal Coordination and Arts & Media — and regular gatherings and homecomings keep seniors and juniors connected.

The domestic training, the overseas training in Japan and Global Mentoring are supported by foundations, the board and alumni donations, so they run without placing a heavy burden on participants.

외국어 능력은 장점으로 작용할 뿐, 외국어에 능통하지 않다고 해서 불이익이 생기지는 않습니다. 면접 중 영어를 사용하는 순간은 1분 이내의 영어 자기소개뿐입니다. 영어 자기소개 및 추가 질문은 '한·일 유스 리더 포럼'의 토론 패널을 선발하기 위한 절차일 뿐이므로, 크게 부담 가지지 않으셔도 됩니다.

국인은 기수제로 운영되고 있습니다. 2027학년도 기준으로 가장 활발하게 활동하게 될 기수는 새로 선발될 24기이며, 23기 선배들이 신입 기수를 적극적으로 도와줄 것입니다. 다만 별도의 활동 기간이 정해져 있지 않으므로, 고기수 선배들도 다양한 국인 활동에 활발히 참여하고 있습니다. 이처럼 의지와 시간만 있다면 지속적으로 활동할 수 있으며, 선발 직후 필수적으로 참여해야 하는 일부 연수를 제외하면 활동에 강제성이 없습니다.

지방 학생의 편의를 위해 필수로 참석해야 하는 연수 일정은 연속으로 배치하고 있습니다. 이 기간 동안 지방 거주 학생은 개인적으로 숙소를 구하거나, 함께 연수를 받는 동기 혹은 친척의 집을 이용하면 연수에 더욱 수월하게 참여할 수 있습니다. 선배 중에도 지방 거주자가 많고, 연수 이후 활동 참여는 개인의 자율에 맡겨지므로 각자 여건이 될 때 자유롭게 활동에 참여할 수 있습니다.

추천서는 필요하지 않습니다. 예전에는 '학교의 추천을 받은 학생'이라는 자격 요건을 두었으나, 선발 과정에 불필요하다고 판단하여 해당 요건을 폐지했습니다. 학교 추천 여부에 따라 가산점이나 감점이 부여되지 않으니, 부담 없이 편하게 지원하셔도 됩니다.

아닙니다. 모집 기간 내에 대학 합격이 확정되어 있다면, N수 여부나 진학 예정인 대학·학과에 상관없이 누구나 지원할 수 있습니다. 실제로 매년 선발되는 인원 중에도 재수생 선배들이 포함되어 있습니다.

없습니다. 특정 학교나 학과가 겹치는지의 여부와는 상관없이, 오직 개인의 자질과 국인에 대한 열정을 중심으로 선발합니다.

국인 활동에 열정적으로 참여할 학생을 선발하는 것이 목표이므로, 대학의 수준은 주요 평가 요소가 아닙니다. 소속보다는 지원자 각자의 특성과 열정, 경험, 그리고 기량을 바탕으로 평가하므로, 학벌은 주요 고려 요소가 아닙니다.

연수 및 기타 일정은 대학교 학사 일정과 겹치지 않도록 최대한 조율하여 계획합니다. 연수 이후의 활동은 대부분 자율 참여로 진행되므로 1월에는 국인 활동에, 2월에는 대학 일정에 집중할 수 있습니다. 다만 연수는 필수 참석 활동이므로 전일 참여가 가능해야 최종 선발될 수 있습니다.
